High-speed is available with just a click of the left stick, letting you fly through any tedious aspects of the game like traveling across fields and battling. High-speed mode and dual audio are both available on cartridge right when you pick it up, so you won’t be missing out on any quality of life features.

In terms of content, the game has been brought over in its entirety from the western PS4 port.

At the end of the day this is was a change for the better, as even with some issues this is the best portable release of a Falcom title I’ve ever played.

A different team, Engine Software, handled this project than the one that worked on Ys VIII, and supposedly took time to carry over certain aspects of Durante’s PC port (which you can find our impressions on here). This review will focus mainly on the quality of the port, I strongly recommend reading James review here for a more in-depth breakdown. Our own James Galizio did an amazing job breaking down more about why that is alongside his thoughts on the quality of the gameplay and story in his original review. I wish that the first two games in this arc had made it to the system first since unfortunately this is not a really good first entry into the series. Thankfully NIS and Falcom have decided to appease to my very niche perspective and announced that both Trails of Cold Steel III and IV are both coming to Switch.

When the third game of the Cold Steel series initially only released on PS4 I had a hard time getting into it after playing almost every single previous Trails game on a PlayStation Vita or PSP. I think after all the updates, its a mostly solid port (and the best way to play it portably) but it was still far from perfect.

The last time one of their game’s hit a portable title was for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, which was outsourced to NIS for development. Comfy experiences like that made me fall in love with playing massive RPGs on portable consoles, which is why it saddened me to see Falcom back away from developing for them at the dawn of the PS4 era. The performance and visuals weren’t the best, but over the next few months, I played the entire 100 hours of the game that way. Fans of role-playing games and idle games alike will find a lot to enjoy with Clicker Heroes 2 and should probably get in on the action as soon as possible.I still fondly remember spending Christmas of 2015 playing Trails of Cold Steel on my Playstation Vita. Future updates should include tweaks to core gameplay for balancing as well as the addition of compelling content as the game goes live. Though the game is still in early access on Steam Playsaurus states that the majority of the core gameplay is already present in what is available now. Though the main objective of developers Playsaurus is to keep gamers gaming, this title does an excellent job of making the experience inviting. Sporting a beautiful and colorful aesthetic, Clicker Heroes 2 has a level of fit and polish to an indie game that may surprise people at first glance.

As an “idle game,” Clicker Heroes 2 hopes to offer the best of huge, sprawling time-sink RPGs and its own genre. Steam offers also a downloadable soundtrack.Īnother quality of life feature that gamers are going to love is the automator feature which allows players to set their avatar on a course for leveling up that does not require player input. The mobile devices version (Android, iOS) should also be ready in the future. Since the original was available for PS4, Xbox One, we can expect the sequel to be also ready for the owners of these consoles.

You will be able to download the game from Steam. To download Clicker Heroes 2 click on the Download button at the end of the review. To get an idea of what the game feels like, first watch the trailer. As a gamer on a never-ending journey to endlessly level your character, this idle game promises an infinite level of replayability and, as fans of the first game can attest, Playsaurus doesn’t miss the mark when they make boasts like that. TThe sequel to the idle game sensation Clicker Heroes, Clicker Heroes 2 from indie studio Playsaurus is currently in early access on Steam and promises to be every bit the worthy successor to the first game that was itself a viral sensation among gamers.
